Project 365 Day 101: Firelight Festival

Project 365 Day 101: Firelight Festival

I have only known about the Firelight Festival from a colleague. I was not actually familiar with it as I can count with my fingers in one hand the times that I had gone to Docklands. But upon hearing his description and reading through various websites, I decided that it is something that I want us to go to. The Firelight Festival happens on the weekend (Friday to Sunday) when the days are the shortest and the nights are the darkest. We decided to come on the first night of the event and the only thing that I can say is that this has definitely skyrocketed to one of the top spots in my growing list of favourite events in Melbourne. Why? Because for those close people in my life, they know that I can be very intolerant of the cold. I easily get cold! And usually if I am cold, I am not able to function to my full potential. But when I started to live here in Melbourne, coldness is an everyday occurrence. I cannot hibernate year-round right? So what did I do? I adapted. But still, even though I have already lived here for years now, winter is still getting the best of me. So anything that has the ability to warm me up during the coldest days of the season is something that I look forward going to and doing. Love the food line-up, the bonfires scattered around the place, the two monuments made of fire, the singing and the dancing and the fireworks. How warm does that sound? So warm that I am already looking forward to it next winter.
