Project 365 Day 21: Night Light

It has only been days when DST ended but I am already missing those long summer days. I got back to yoga January of last summer after a year of not doing any exercise. I try to be as diligent on attending and go there whenever I can. I make time for it in my day unless there really is something more important that I have to do that missing a yoga class is inevitable. The class usually starts at 6 PM and ends at around 7 PM during weeknights. During summer, the sun was still out when I walk out of the yoga studio but it has just dawned on me last night how dark it already was even before I walk in the studio. Winter is really just ahead. Even though I adore those summer days what I appreciate more about the colder months is that since the days are shorter and ends sooner, it is easier to sleep on time.

I again attended my yoga class last night. It was just my yoga instructor and me for the third time ever since I started doing yoga there. I love her classes. Although yoga in general always excites me, I am more excited to do yoga when I know that she will facilitate the class. I love how diversified her flows are. You will never know what to expect in her class but you can be assured that you will sweat a lot. I also love how she always reminds us to go beyond what we can accomplish, to not let our mind trick us into giving up whenever a pose gets hard, to push through even if it is uncomfortable and to always believe that our bodies can do it. She even tells us that the learning that we acquire from yoga is also applicable to other aspects of our life so we should imbibe and apply whatever it is that work for us. So powerful! Her teachings and reminders are in line with my truths so I always appreciate hearing them.

I shot this image in the yoga room before the yoga class started. I just loved how the subdued lighting from the light in the hallway ceiling landed on the floor inside the yoga room and peeked through the slightly opened door. It radiated a sense of calmness around.
