Vienna, Austria: Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront
VIENNA, AUSTRIA. Perched along the River Danube is this amazing hotel called Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront which we stayed in at when we were in Vienna. The first sight of its amazingness took hold when we entered the compound and crossed over the main road through a bridge to reach the other side of the road. Immediately impressed! The moment the bus parked outside, I immediately found myself scurrying towards the exit. It had been a long drive from Budapest so I was kind of ecstatic to stretch again my legs and breathe some fresh air. It was indeed some fresh but cold air that I breathed and I remembered that it felt invigorating.
"I am here in Vienna, at last!", I thought.
Taking in my surroundings, I saw that the hotel is to be found in a fairly quiet part of the city called Handelskai, which was a refreshing fact since we had been constantly immersed in the bustles of the cities we had been in and I was then craving for some peace and quiet. Nonetheless, it was still nice to know that the hotel is just a 6-minute walk from the Metro station "Stadion" connected to the city center just in case the desire to go to downtown and experience the city surfaces.
I walked towards the revolving door to take some refuge from the cold weather outside. Entering, the contemporary vibe paired with some mood lightings and amazing view of the Danube River up ahead immediately grew in me. This is something that I could get used to everyday. But more than the promise of an amazing view, I was more excited and curious to experience the beautiful room and comfortable bed that our tour guide told us in passing. However, a nice room with a view of the river would not also hurt; it was then that I found myself praying for it.
Alas we checked in into our room which luckily has a lovely view of the river. The long couch I also adored as well as the ellipse-shaped coffee table and desk found at the far end of the room which helped exude a homey ambiance. But more than that were the pillows and the soft bed which waved harder to me as I came in. I just have to try them immediately. The moment my body sank in on the comforter I immediately knew I would not be roaming around the hotel anytime soon, which I usually do when I arrive in a new place. That time, I just stayed there sinking my body and head deeper in the fluffiness around me. Vienna can wait. Vienna will wait. And true enough, Vienna let me be still for a while.
